THIS WEEK AT DESTINYPERKS 12/05/2022

This week at DestinyPerks, we decided to make a blog post. We’re going with “TWADP” (pronounce that however you like), although we don’t expect to post weekly. Just whenever seems right - like the eve of a new season launching in Destiny 2, and lots of exciting new weapons, perks, and other content being released into the community.

We’ll talk about a few things on our minds - some synergy on a reworked exotic that should be bananas, a few lists (because we love lists!), and a few exciting new features to expect on DestinyPerks to help you find those rare, unique weapon rolls that synergize so sweet.

But before we don our best spinfoil hats and start diving headfirst into exaggerated, clickbait-inspired build-crafting, let’s swing by Craig’s desk and hear about the business end of things - DestinyPerks.com:

CRAIG’S CORNER

Craig, just to recap for folks who may have missed a Tweet or two, what new features should we be on the lookout for on DestinyPerks.com?

CRAIG: We shipped a few things since our last post:

  • “Craftable” property to use as a search filter tag.
  • Required weapon levels for crafting all ‘column 3 & 4’ perks (standard versions - see below for Enhanced), barrels, and mags
  • Origin Traits as search tags; “Add Perk” Weapon Card functionality for Origin Traits
  • Pivot by Perks - flip the search results from weapon cards to perk combos in order to find truly rare and special weapon rolls
    • Allow for searching by perk to show all possible combinations for that given perk (e.g., “all possible Vorpal Weapon perk combinations from any weapon that rolls it”)
    • Ranked by count of weapons that can roll each combination, sorted by highest (most common) to lowest (most rare); follow count hyperlink for the list of weapons with this combo
    • Allows for specification of which column the perk can be in (e.g., “only combinations from weapons that can roll Vorpal Weapon in column 3”)
    • Currently just includes columns 3 & 4 to avoid exponentially-long search results
  • New UI formatting scheme that is soft on the eyes
  • Technically, the entire website, seeing as we’ve never done any posts like this before

Excellent work, Craig! Can’t wait to try those out. Now what can we expect to see roll out in this new season of Destiny?

CRAIG: We’re planning to ship the following over the next few weeks as the season rolls out:

  • Season 19 data up within minutes - all of the new weapons, perks, possible rolls, and stats posted within a couple minutes of being made available by Bungie, live and searchable on DestinyPerks.com
    • Note: this is from the moment the data is refreshed by Bungie on the API, not from the time of Reset. Often the API is not refreshed until at least a few hours or more after the time of Reset for a large, new content drop.
    • For dungeons & raids released on weekends, the gear is usually not available on the API until the following Weekly Reset the next Tuesday.
  • Enhanced Perks Functionality & Weapon Crafting Insights
    • Required weapon levels for Enhanced versions of perks
    • Descriptions of Enhanced Perks built in with insights to the deltas from standard versions
    • Impact from Enhanced Perk bonuses added to weapon stats based on all perks you have added to your on-site “crafted weapon” (basic beta of weapon crafting interface with stats is currently available by clicking the picture of a weapon from the Weapon Card)
  • New “Combos” Feature - A new set of tags to give combinations of perks their own data points, giving a new way to interact with the site and find fun, rare, or even unique perk combinations and weapon rolls.
    • Starting with curated combos built around weapon and build-crafting synergies, enabling essential search and analysis functionalities.
    • E.g., “Melee” is a tag for perk combinations that synergize on Melee abilities, and would return combos in pivot-by-perk format such as Pugilist + Swashbuckler, Grave Robber + Trench Barrel, Well-Rounded + Golden Tricorn, etc.
    • Initially just columns 3 & 4, with addition of ‘bonus synergy’ based on the Origin Traits (e.g., combos in results for “Melee” tag will be valued with higher synergy if the weapon has the origin traits “Right Hook” or “To Excess” available.
    • The “Curated Combos” will function essentially the same as the current pivot-by-perk format for translating to weapons (ranked by count of weapons that can roll each combination; follow count hyperlink for the list of weapons with this combo).

Great to hear, Craig! Wonderful news - what would we even do without you? Well, I prefer not to think too much on that!

With that, let’s make a List!

NEW SEASON TOMORROW, SO LET’S MAKE A LIST

Note: Lists of top weapons, best perk combos, etc, in DestinyPerks content is not intended to be a ranking, or even a list of the absolute best. They’re not rankings in any intended order. Factors considered when compiling these top-tier lists are simply the four critical components of Destiny 2 experiences: Power, Efficiency, Fun, & Science.

TOP 13 “WISH LIST” PERK COMBINATIONS

These perk combinations are hypothetically possible, as in the perks can be found in the necessary columns on existing weapons. They just don’t happen to yet - or rather, Bungie has not decided to reward us with them yet.

So these are not game-breaking, and who knows if they’re meta - but they have fascinating synergy potential and will be the first things we are checking for once that juicy new data hits the air waves Tuesday!

Remember - per DestinyPerks.com, these combos don’t exist yet:

13. Wellspring + Golden Tricorn - Why choose Grenades OR Melees? Why not just both?

12. Osmosis + Golden Tricorn - For Guardians who choose to throw more Grenades.

11. Wellspring + Surrounded - Surrounded now with “intrinsic Surrounded Spec” + Enhanced Surrounded bonus damage + Boss/Major/Minor Spec = a lot of damage!

10. Subsistence + Chill Clip - For Guardians who always like to keep things Chill.

9. Overflow + Chill Clip - For Guardians who LOVE to keep things Chill.

8. Field Prep + Firmly Planted - For Guardians who just get tired of standing up all the time!

7. Adaptive Munitions + Over-Under - Look, sometimes it’s not exciting being a Gumshoe, you just do it for the Science.

6. Slickdraw + Opening Shot - This would certainly bring all the meta-babies to the yard.

5. Overflow + Killing Tally - Look, you did Killing Tally dirty, can we at least just have 21% Delirium back? Subsistence would work too!

4. Killing Wind + Assassin’s Blade - Bold DSC prediction #1: the new Bequest will have this interesting, but ultimately not very useful, double SPEED combo.

3. Reconstruction + Killing Tally - Bold DSC prediction #2. Sure, we have good heavy machine guns. But they just fall into our laps. Give us one we want to CHASE, we want to GRIND for, and we want to spend HOURS of our lives crafting. Commemoration, the DSC void heavy machine gun, will roll this combo. Working nickname: “21% Hammerhead, by Clovis”

2. Subsistence + Rampage on a special breech load GL - Do it you cowards!

1. Stasis Glaive w/ Cold Steel + Chill Clip - Give us both you cowards!

And now, since we’ve gotten the formalities out of the way, let’s break out that tinfoil and build us a meta machine!

GYRFALCON’S HAUBERK PERFECTED, OR, “VOID 4.0”

“Am I the only one on God's green earth that thinks Repulsor Brace is an S-tier perk in combination with Volatile Rounds?!” - Stunna

‘Twas the night before a new season, and all through the community, Guardians prepared for lots of things both new and old. One change that is not getting enough attention (or at least not the right attention) is the rework to Gyrfalcons.

This is going to be nuts. In PvE, and, dare we say it, in Crucible too (Titan and Warlock mains may want to skip this section. Or use Collective Obligation for similar results).

So nuts, that we’re thinking of it as the coming of “VOID 4.0” and decided to rewrite the lore tab for the exotic chest piece capturing some of the craziness. We know how the best lore tabs always have a sense of mystery, so we decided to mysteriously include Olmec from the classic game show, “Legends of the Hidden Temple”.

"Void 4.0?... didn't they just do 3.0 like... during the whole Savathun thing?"

Olmec: GUARDIAN.

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THIS WAS A MAGICAL VEST, AND PUTTING IT ON WOULD GIVE YOU INSCRUTABLE POWER IN ONE OF TWO FORMS.

Guardian: Really? So another nerf, great.

THIS VEST GRANTS YOU THE FOLLOWING BONUSES FOR A PERIOD OF TIME UPON EXITING ANY FORM OF INVISIBILITY:

..

OPTION A

GRANTS A SMALL DAMAGE INCREASE

G: Okay, sure, I like math.

O: DOES NOT REQUIRE A KILL

G: Great, I always like free. I guess that could lead to issues?

…..

O: OPTION B

G: What, already?

O: GRANTS VOLATILE ROUNDS

G: Okay, explosions are always good.

O: GRANTS AN OVERSHIELD EXCEPT SUDDENLY TWICE AS STRONG

G: surviving explosions is always good too

O: GRANTS DEVOUR HEALTH REGENERATION

G: wait, werent you guys moving away from that in PvP? I mean I'll take it but-

O: GRANTS THE ABILITY TO SEE THROUGH WALLS

G: ok stop, there no way, I mean the entire team could potentially-

O: GRANTS MORE INVISIBILITY. AGAIN

G: you were just invisible a second ago, why would... I mean you can just do the whole thing over again and again as long as you want

O: YES

G: there must be like a cooldown or-

O: NO

G: is there any kind of catch?

O: REQUIRES ONE KILL

G: well you'll be invisible and have volatile rounds, how hard could it be... you could even camp with a void sniper and-

O: OPTION A? OPTION B? NERF OR BUFF?

……

WHICH OPTION DO YOU CHOOSE?

……

THE CHOICE IS YOURS, AND YOURS ALONE

G: you call this a choice? Gimme that thing.. and Banshee’s special duct tape, I'm never taking it off!

Thanks Olmec! That's right folks, the Gyrfalcon’s nerf is going to be the best nerf you've ever experienced. Let’s break it down:

On the surface, Volatile Rounds may just seem like something fun for PvE, and basically a colorful cosmetic feature in PvP. But, the never-before-seen ease of activation from Gyrfalcon’s, paired with the right mix of void subclass components and synergistic weapon kits, something beautifully terrifying begins to emerge:

  • Exotic Armor - Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk: Grants Volatile Rounds upon exiting invisibility (exact language TBD).
  • Hunter Void Aspect - Stylish Executioner: Defeating a weakened, suppressed, or volatile target grants Invisibility and Truesight. After performing a Stylish Execution, your next melee attack while invisible weakens targets (note - not ‘Combatant’, but ‘Target’, ie, including other Guardians).
  • Void-build Weapon Perk - Repulsor Brace: Defeating a Void-debuffed target grants an overshield.
  • Void Fragment - Echo of Harvest: Defeating weakened targets with precision final blows will create an Orb of Power (important for next part).
  • Void Fragment - Echo of Starvation: Picking up an Orb of Power grants Devour.
  • 3x Invisibility Opportunities: Vanishing Step (or “Dodge Invis”), Trapper’s Ambush (or “Shadowdive”), and Heartshadow exotic sword (what, you thought you’d run anything else for heavy? Oh yeah, it’s Dark Souls time!)
  • Void Weapons at Primary AND Special: Volatile rounds in all 3 weapon slots? Sure! Here are a few Repulsor Brace and Osmosis combos that will benefit greatly from zero-downtime Volatile Rounds, courtesy of DestinyPerks.com:
    • Unforgiven void SMG with Demolitionist + Repulsor Brace; and Defiance of Yasmin kinetic sniper rifle with Osmosis + Demolitionist
    • Epicurean void fusion with Feeding Frenzy + Repulsor Brace; and Fatebringer kinetic hand cannon with Osmosis + Adrenaline Junkie
    • Doom of Chelchis void scout rifle with Firefly + Repulsor Brace; and One Small Step kinetic rapid-fire frame Fortissimo-11 kinetic pinpoint slug shotgun with Subsistence + Osmosis

See where we’re going with this? Takes some finesse, but essentially any given kill, in PvE and PvP, while the Gyrfalcon Volatile Rounds are up gives you: Invisibility, True Sight, Weaken with your next melee (powered or not), Overshield, and if they were weakened (with your melee, normal Smoke Bomb, either Tether, Collective Obligation, the new Breach & Clear void-based Artifact mod, etc.), they’ll throw in Devour as well. And if you slap Echo of Persistence in one of the remaining Fragment slots and everything lasts longer, too.

Yes. This is the return of the long-mourned Flawless Execution ability from Hunter’s Void 2.0 kit, except upgraded with new extras (Overshield and Devour) and debatably less criteria for activation (no Precision Kill required, do not need to be crouching).

Warlocks and Titans? Don't worry, you have Void 4.0 too, but through Collective Obligation - a story for another day I suppose.

Should be fun to watch it all play out in the Crucible!

Guardian: Woah, Olmec, maybe cool it on the SIVA intake?

OLMEK: я пятнадцатое желание

Legends of the Hidden Temple Head

And if you’re still with us, that’s great!

And surprising!

And you should follow us for more of the same on Twitter (Editor’s Note: In case it no longer exists by the time of this publication, Twitter was a social media website where companies, people, and things pretending to be people would post news-ish things, but just a little bit at a time!) at @Destiny_Perks.

Check back here on Tuesday for all the goods, and catch you at the Tower bright and early for Zavala’s [Excuse me, you let Rahool do WHAT to Rasputin?] all-hands meeting at 7 AM PT sharp!

Cheers!
